Livistonia mariae - The very rare Red Cabbage Palm

We have a few Red Cabbage Palms (Livistonia mariae) available.  This very rare and robust fan palm occurs only in the Finke Gorge National Park in the MacDonnell Range system, in the Northern Territory.  This area is of considerable interest to tourists and scientists because of the Red Cabbage Palms.  Some of the Cabbage Palms in Palm Valley are 25m tall and are estimated to be  between 100 to 300 years old.  One of theses palms grown in Melbourne has only grown 3.75m in 30 years making it a great long lasting pot plant, especially with its beautiful and unusual red leaves.
